Due to real or perceived discrimination Drowning is the leading killer of children in the U.S., and the drowning rate in communities of color is nearly triple the national average. If White children drowned at this rate would it be seen as a national health crisis? On this episode of Diversity MattersĀ®, John Cruzat, USA Swimming’s National Diversity Specialist and Wanda Butts founder of the Josh Project join Judy Seidenstein and Dr. Richard Friend to discuss their efforts to reduce disparities in drowning rates, as well as the minority swimming gap in the sport.
